Donate We have big plans for 2017 and the Agnes Martin Before the Grid documentary film. Our focus is to participate in film festivals throughout the year and to secure distribution with a company that can place the film in libraries, Universities, and Museums, as well as online distribution. To that end we have secured a small grant to hire a marketing coordinator and are pleased to have Monique Gomez join our team. ![]() Monique will be organizing data for the festivals, keeping track of correspondence, and marketing and coordinating screenings. As we are accepted into festivals we will let you know so that you can invite your friends to join us in the various cities around the world that will be screening our film. And now, we recap our year of 2016. ![]() In September we had our first two events. The VIP Preview dinner and screening for our major funders at the home of Tom and Holly Azzari. A wonderful evening with dinner by bretthousecatering.com and wine provided by John Rush. On September 15, 2016 we had our first public screening at the Taos Center for the Arts. tcataos.org There is nothing lke your home town to come and show their love and support. It was a great community event that was sold out and we received a standing ovation! So many people of Taos knew and loved Agnes and we heard many stories that night of how she impacted and shared her life with so many. In October we flew to NYC and saw the Martin exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum. It was a very different viewing experience compared to seeing it in London in June of 2015. The spiraling along the rotunda made for a lovely way to stroll through the timeline of her work. We were thrilled to see that “Mid-Winter”, which is part of the Taos Municipal School Collection, is the first piece in the show. The following day we did two private screenings at the home and studio of Rebecca Allan, rebeccaallan.com, and Laura Kaminsky, laurakaminsky.com, in the Bronx. It was great to mingle with some established artists from the area as well as Agnes lovers, historians and art critics. Kathleen was fortunate to have some of her family, from N.J. come to the screening. In November following the Thanksgiving holiday we did another private screening in Denver Co. at Space Gallery, spacegallery.org, in coordination with Windows to the Divine, windowstothedivine.org.
It was a successful event to help raise money for marketing and distribution. |
